19th century
The neo-Gothic and Romanesque windows created during the nineteenth century often suffer from severe paint-loss.It is thought that this is due to an imperfect revival of traditional vitreous paints, alongside faults in the firing process. As a consequence, windows of this period are also frequently characterized by poorly-executed later restorations attempting to rectify large areas of paint-loss, and are frequently in need of attention.
