Protective Glazing
Exterior protective glazing helps to preserve valuable windows. The current system has its origins in the nineteenth century, and has been developed to protect both of the interior and exterior surfaces of historical glass from environmental damage. An efficient protective glazing system can drastically reduce ongoing glass corrosion and paint-loss. A key feature of the leading systems in an adequate ventilation space between the inner and outer pane of glazing. The choice of materials for the outer layer is diverse, including mirror or low reflective glass, and leaded or moulded lights which follow the design of the historic glass behind it. Safetly glass can also be provided to protect windows from agressive forms of vandalism.
